poured out for many

And He said to them, "This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many." Mark 14:24

This Altar Cross design started out with the idea of a hollow cross with the exposed ends, finished in 24K gold leaf, facing towards the congregation. Being hollow allows for light passage throughout the Cross with the gold leaf catching all of the light. The reason for this approach is that we wanted it to be easily viewed and understood from distance. The base design was developed out of frustration with early concepts not fitting within the overall aesthetic of the cross. We went back to basics, created and rotated a clean curve with the intention of slicing and dicing out a proper base. After doing a quick render of the basic shape, it is was obvious the base was finished prior to any slicing and/or dicing. After finalizing the all details and colors, it was only proper name to the design "Poured Out for Many". The cross is made of cast porcelain from a 3D printed plastic pattern. The INRI inscription is made of polished brass, again utilizing the 3D printing process. It can be a one-way or two-way cross. The base is CNC turned aluminum and coated in a deep red.
